# Testox
>[!infobox|right]
>![[testox.jpg|Testox]]
Old souls in sturdy shells, Testox are turtle- and tortoisefolk who chart the world one step at a time. You see value in the journey itself—every bend in the path, every stranger met. Others may rush ahead, but you know that insight grows in patience. To travel is to become truly wise.
###### Height and Weight
>[!infobox|txt-c wm-sm left]
>###### Random Height and Weight Table
>Base Height | Base Weight | Height Modifier | Weight Modifier |
>---|---|---|---|
>4' 8" | 400 lb. | +2d8" | x 1d4 lb. |
Testox adults stand 5 to 6 feet tall and average 450 pounds. Their shells account for roughly one-third of their weight.
If you'd like, you can roll on the Random Height and Weight Table to determine your height and weight. Start by rolling the **Height Modifier** dice then roll the **Weight Modifier** dice. Take the total of the **Height Modifier** dice and add it to your **Base Height**, then take that same total—the total of the **Height Modifier** dice—and Multiply it by the **Weight Modifier** dice total, adding the new total to your **Base Weight**.
###### Testox Names
Testox names are shaped like the journeys they cherish; long, deliberate, and steady in rhythm. Syllables flow evenly, with open vowels and soft consonants creating a sense of calm continuity. Names often stretch across four or more syllables, as if each sound is a step taken toward something greater. Because of this, many Testox give the shortened version of their name to friends, as only a Testox can truly appreciate the whole.

#### Testox Traits

># Testox Traits
>Trait | Description |
>---|---|
>**[[Creature Type]]** | Humanoid |
>**Language** | Testox, Choose a number equal to your Intelligence modifier *(min. 1)* |
>**[[Size]]** | Medium *(about 5-7 feet tall)* |
>**[[Speed]]** | 30 feet |
As a Testox, you have these special traits.
***Claws.*** Your claws are natural weapons, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with them, you deal slashing damage equal to 1d6 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.
***Natural Armor.*** Due to your shell and the shape of your body, you are ill-suited to wearing armor. Your shell provides ample protection, however; it gives you a base AC of 17 (your Dexterity modifier doesn't affect this number). You gain no benefit from wearing armor, but if you are using a shield, you can apply the shield's bonus as normal.
***Shell Defense.*** You can withdraw into your shell as an action. Until you emerge, you gain a +4 bonus to AC, and you have advantage on Strength and Constitution saving throws. While in your shell, you are prone, your speed is 0 and can't increase, you have disadvantage on Dexterity saving throws, you can't take reactions, and the only action you can take is a bonus action to emerge from your shell.
***Testox Lineage.*** You are part of a lineage that grants you supernatural abilities. Choose one of the following options:
- **To-Testox.** To-Testox have finely honed survival instincts helping you survive in the wilderness. You have proficiency in the Survival skill. Additionally, You are considered to be one size larger for the purpose of determining your carrying capacity.
- **Tu-Testox.** Tu-Testox are natural swimmers. You gain a swim speed equal to your walking speed. You also can hold your breath for up to 1 hour at a time and have resistance to cold damage. Finally, you must hydrate your shell in order to survive. Once per day, you must spend 10 minutes applying at least two gallons of water to yourself, hydrating your body for the day. Every day you fail to hydrate your shell grants you one level of exhaustion. Hydrating your shell does not remove the need to drink water to survive.
